GREENWICH VILLAGE

PENTHOUSE GARDEN

Pre-war penthouse with a sun-drenched rooftop terrace.

NEW YORK, NY. 2025.

This 500-square-foot rooftop in Greenwich Village transforms a compact footprint into a calm, sculptural outdoor room with sweeping east, west, and south-facing views, including sightlines to One World Trade Center. Completed over four months, the project balances function and restraint, responding carefully to rooftop exposure and scale.

The design prioritizes evergreen structure for year-round presence, with a deliberate exception for select Japanese varietals– introduced sparingly to bring seasonal color and refined, minimalist form. Planting was tailored to rooftop microclimates, emphasizing durability, sculptural silhouettes, and visual calm.

Lauren led the project from concept through installation, overseeing layout, planting design, material sourcing, procurement, and delivery coordination. Integrated furnishings, lighting, and functional elements create a quiet, flexible space that extends the home outward while remaining grounded in its urban context.
